We were very honored to have participated in this year’s 14th #UN #CrimeCongress in #Kyoto. A Premiere for us!
Here are some of the week’s highlights:
#GhadaWaly UNODC Executive Director, officially opened the Congress. This year in a #hybrid format with more than 5,600 participants. This year’s Congress adopted the #KyotoDeclaration, which sets up the working plan for the next 5 years.
Through various workshops and auxiliary meetings, the Congress emphasized the importance of mainstreaming a #gender perspective into crime prevention. All Congress’ stakeholders recognized the importance of #education in making our #societies more #resilient to #crime.
While #technological advancements support the #fight against crime, these have also enabled organized criminal groups to target more victims, expand illicit businesses and conceal crimes.
AIDA contributed to the Congress in an official statement by our Founder and CEO Elena Ardelean available in the link below. Our delegation also actively took part in #workshops, #auxiliarymeetings and #specialevents.
We look forward to collaborating with our colleagues from the #civilsociety on the issues identified during the Congress, in particular #youth and #technology-related.
